Objectives

Objective of this special training was to get additional know-how and on return train the experts in our country based on the knowledge imparted.

Expected results/impacts

This visit emphasizes the need to synchronize the activities of various organizations involved in the activity of comparative testing in India as otherwise all will be working in cross purpose with risks of duplication and unwanted conflicts.

Following topics for training were covered for the five days special training program by the various senior officials of Stiftung Warentest:

1. Welcome and presentation about Stiftung Warentest – Dr. Holger Brackemann, Director of Testing Research &Dr. Heinz Willnat, Head of the European & Intl. Affairs.
2. Comparative Product Testing & Consumer Information in Germany - Stiftung Warentest’s Mission & Work – Ms. Elke Gehrke, Head of Household Appliances Research Department.
3. Methodology of comparative Testing of Goods: General Testing Procedure – Ms. Elke Gehrke.
4. Consideration of Environmental criteria in Product Evaluation – Ms. C. Boettcher – Tiedemann: Project Manager, Household Appliances Research Department.
5. Special Testing methodology – Household Appliances: Washing Machines & Vacuum Cleaners – Mr. Jorg Siebolds: Project Manager, Household Appliances Research Department.
6. Work with mass Media (TV, Radio, News Papers) Ms. Ute Braenzel. Deputy Head of Press Department.
7. Marketing Practices An overview: Mr. Jens Liedtke, Director of Marketing & Sales.
8. Visit to Muller BBM Test Labs- Munich Mr. Gregor Feneberg.
