Target Group There were 29 participants in the training course. Some had experience of
standards work whilst others were involved with comparative testing. There
were also some with very little knowledge of standardization.

Objectives

The overall aim of this workshop was to strengthen the knowledge of Voluntary Consumer Organizations (VCOs) about the significance of standards for consumers and the possibilities to participate in standards work. Interactive case studies were used to develop and practice skills with regard to strategic and technical input to standardization processes as well as possible support for market surveillance.

Description of contents/agenda

The training was based on the existing training modules developed by ISO COPOLCO and structured to provide a mix of presentations and dialogue sessions, to lead logically through from the basics of standardization, to the point where participants could look forward to future actions, ensuring that participants would gain the maximum benefit from the training.
